Will the Eddie Go?

The charts are off the meter right now and it looks like there's a solid chance to run The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau event sometime between Sunday Dec. 6th and Tuesday the 8th. Quik has done an excellent job with their event site and offer a text alert so you won't miss any action from the most anticipated one-day event in the sport. We encourage you to sign up immediately. Once again we are the proud providers of this year's Eddie image taken by Dan Merkel. The image (seen above) was one of the "lost" images tucked away tightly in Merk's storage unit for the last 30 + years. It had never seen the light of day and ended up being special enough to be the face of the 25th Anniversary edition of the event. If that doesn't give you "chicken skin" I don't know what will.

Rell Sunn Aloha Jam

A big thank you to all of the supporters of the inaugural Rell Sunn Aloha Jam. The event was a huge success and one that will undoubtedly become a regular fixture in the North Shore winter scene. Rell's spirit continues to effect our community and having the ability to pass her aloha on to future generations is a cause we here at A-Frame are firmly behind. See photos from the event here.

THIRSTY?

Our favorite Surfer Girl, Monyca Byrne-Wickey, is being featured in the latest Gatorade outdoor campaign. The image purchased was shot by A-Frame ace Jason Kenworthy. The campaign can be seen nationwide on billboards and most major sports stadiums. We’re looking forward to working on the next phase of this awesome campaign and will keep you posted as it develops. Between Nike and Gatorade, Jason has quickly established himself as one of the the “surf guys” making an impact in the commercial world. Now that’s G!

Surfer Magazine Photo of the Year

Congratulations to A-Frame's Todd Glaser for not only claiming 2 SURFER covers this year, but for taking home the coveted FOTY Award. Since being on staff at SURFER Todd has proven himself as one of the up and coming shinning stars on a staff that hosts the best in the business. Todd loves shooting film and gets so immersed with his subjects that the candid nature of his work has a refreshing take that puts you in the moment.
This month Todd's images of Greg Long and Grant "Twiggy" Baker were featured in a FUEL TV campaign in the Denver International Airport (deserving of it's own post on this blog shortly)

Last Stop for The Calfornia Surf Project

If you haven't had a chance to see what the Golden State has to offer through the lens of Chris Burkard and the artwork of Eric Soderquist, you need to head to the Surf Gallery in Laguna Beach this Saturday (June 27th) and catch the final stop on their California exhibition and book signing tour.
For those of you that can't make it, you can still purchase The California Surf Project here.

A-Frame is proud to see our good buddy Charley Cover is embarking on yet another long distance paddle to raise money for breast cancer. This year Charley is setting his sights on circumnavigating Catalina Island along with fellow chargers Steve Faber, Ole Barre, Dean Lakoff, Matt Ellis, Eric Brinkman, Joe Melville and Steve Orloff.
Please be sure to read more here and to find out how you can support this great cause.
